Amplitude Equals One Over Frequency Squared (Dan Cohoon)

Amplitude Equals One Over Frequency Squared is dedicated to the exploration of independent rock, free jazz, low-fi, out-electronics & universal rock. A=1/F Squared has published seven print zines since 1996. The Amplitude Print Archives feature interviews and articles that were in the print form of the publication. The Phonography section features reviews of recordings in various formats and genres.

The zine was originally started at the rather questionable institution of Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA. Besides hiding in the color dark room from the insanely scary photo chair, and making atonal sound pieces on the schools trusty four track, the zine was one of the few things of any value he got from that rather disreputable school.

At the turn of the 21st century Cohoon embarked to Portland, Oregon. There he found a musical wonderland that had everything from full on free jazz, to noise, electronics and plain old rock. With the help of the Independent Publishing Resource Center he published several print zines covering both the local scene and national/international artists. In 2002 he moved back to the east coast. In 2005 he made the bold leap into the future, if the future was 1996, and started publishing on-line.
